Patios are very special places. You can BBQ with friends and family, lay out and enjoy some sunshine, read, post on social media, or just chill out and enjoy your yard. I particularly love a flagstone patio. Why? Because they’re simple, solid and beautiful. Plus, they are fairly easy to maintain.
This is our second patio. After removing the old fireplace and pathway, the yard needed a place for guests to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
Removing the old buried flagstone was a giant job. But what was so cool was that, once they were all out, we discovered how amazing the flagstones were! We ended up having more stone than we needed to build the patio and pathway. I was overjoyed!
Next we had to fill in the land with dirt. here’s what 3 tons of dirt looks like.
Then we had to create the spaces where the flagstones would go.
After that, we laid out the stones for placement. And man, these stones are heavy! Sand is also a major component in laying stone. Make sure you have enough on hand – makes it a lot easier.
And finally, we lay down the grass and the hay.
After some hard work, we now have a great new spot for relaxing in the yard!
