Thank goodness for rain! It brings double rainbows like this one.

Rainy Season

I just love this time of year because I get to work outside and do all the great outdoor tasks to prepare the yard for growth. Each year I can’t wait to mulch, fertilize, plant, rake, and paint! Getting out there and physically working in the fresh open air is great for the mind, body, and soul.

It’s ideal to start fertilizing and feeding your yard early, after the snow melts. First I rake to remove all the dead leaves. Then I fertilize the lawn. I like to use Scott’s Turf Builder from Home Depot.

I walk the whole yard and make sure every inch is fertilized fully.  Not only is it great exercise but it also provides nourishment for a green and lush yard.

Next I clean out the planters and prepare the flower beds for planting, though the flower beds don’t totally thaw out until late May or early June because summer comes late in Lake Placid.

Another way I like to rejuvenate the property in the spring is to stain the wood decks. It’s a big job, so stay tuned for an upcoming blog post about the process.

Spring is a wonderful time to get your property ready for a beautiful summer in the sun. Happy spring time everyone!

I just want to congratulate you on the exquisite job you did on the Cottages! Did I mention how dreamy the beds are? I had my best night's sleep in weeks. Ahhhhh Oh my god! I just want to move in today. You have such lovely taste. It has such a peaceful aura. We all had a wonderful stay. Thank you again.
