Porsche Parade Week in Lake Placid: A Local’s Guide to June 14–20, 2026

What’s happening, and why it matters

For one week in mid-June, Lake Placid turns into the most concentrated gathering of Porsches in North America. The 2026 Porsche Parade — the 70th annual edition of the Porsche Club of America’s flagship event — runs June 14–20, hubbed at the Olympic Center, with 2,000+ attendees and 1,300+ cars registered. That makes it one of the largest Parades in the event’s seven-decade history.

If you’re a Porsche owner, you know what Parade week is. If you’re not, here’s the local version: the town goes from “summer is starting” to “the entire Olympic complex is filled with air-cooled 911s.” Mirror Lake Drive becomes a rolling concours. Coffee shops fill earlier. And for one Monday morning, the historic Olympic Speed Skating Oval becomes a 90-year-old motoring stage.

We’ve been here for these weeks before. This is a Parade for both kinds of people: the ones who came for the cars, and the ones who didn’t but get to enjoy the spillover.

The week, day by day

Sunday, June 14 — Arrival. Participants stage at the Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex on Cascade Road. Traffic noticeably picks up. Patios fill earlier than usual.

Monday, June 15 — Concours d’Elegance, 8:30am–3pm at the Olympic Speed Skating Oval. Open to the public. This is the headline event. Hundreds of Porsches arranged around the historic outdoor speed-skating track — restorations, daily drivers, race cars, every era and color. The Adirondacks form the backdrop. Bring a camera. Bring patience; parking nearby gets tight.

Tuesday, June 16 — Time-Speed-Distance Rally. Participants run a 120-mile route through the paved, twisty roads northwest of Lake Placid, with a stop at Paul Smith’s College Visitor Interpretive Center. Then the traditional afternoon Ice Cream Social. If you’re driving Route 86 or 30 that morning, expect a parade of Porsches in your rearview.

Wednesday, June 17 — A relatively quiet day for the rest of the village (Parade-specific schedule activities are more contained).

Thursday, June 18 — The “17 for 70” Gimmick Rally. A family-friendly route starting and ending at the restored New York Central railroad station that now houses the Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society Museum. The rally climbs the Veterans’ Memorial Highway up Whiteface Mountain — a 5-mile toll road with switchbacks ending at the stone castle, café, and elevator at the summit. If you’ve never driven the Whiteface highway, this is the week to plan it for yourself; you don’t need to be in the rally to do it.

Friday, June 19 — Cars & Community in Saranac Lake, 5pm–9pm. Open to the public. Main Street in Saranac Lake fills with Parade Porsches for a casual, non-competitive show — and it kicks off Saranac Lake’s annual Cruisin’ weekend. Worth the 15-minute drive over the hill.

Saturday, June 20 — Victory Banquet and departures. The town starts to clear by Sunday.

Two things the public can absolutely see

If you’re not registered for Parade but want to take it in:

  1. Concours d’Elegance, Monday June 15, Olympic Speed Skating Oval, 8:30am–3pm — the largest open-to-public event. Walk among hundreds of Porsches. Free to spectate.
  2. Cars & Community, Friday June 19, Downtown Saranac Lake Main Street, 5pm–9pm — casual, walkable, family-friendly. Doubles as the opener for Saranac Lake’s Cruisin’ weekend.

Beyond those two, you’ll see plenty of cars on the roads — Cascade Road, Whiteface highway, Route 86 between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. Pull off and watch a few; it’s a real spectacle.

Honest insider notes

  • Traffic on Cascade Road will be heavier than usual Sunday through Friday. The staging area is the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex at 5486 Cascade Rd. If you’re hiking from the Adirondack Loj, leave earlier than you would in a normal summer week.
  • The Olympic Center area is the gravitational center; book parking expectations accordingly. Main Street Lake Placid and Saranac Lake stay relatively normal.
  • Lodging fills out far in advance. This is one of the highest-demand weeks of the entire summer outside Ironman.
  • If you want a quiet morning, walk the Mirror Lake loop or head out on Brewster Peninsula early — both stay quiet while the Porsche action concentrates at the Oval and out on the rally routes.

Where to stay during Porsche Parade week

If you’re planning to be in town June 14–20 — whether you’re a Parade participant, a fan coming for the Concours, or a regular summer traveler who wants to enjoy the spectacle — book lodging now. The 2,000+ Parade attendees have been booking since registration opened, and there’s only so much room in Lake Placid.

We run two historic cottages in the village — Studio Cottage, Two Bedroom Cottage, or both together as the GO-Cottage Dual Cottage Retreat. Ten-minute walk to Main Street, two-minute drive to Mirror Lake, and a straight shot to the Olympic Center.
